The biggest moves of NFL free agency have come and gone. A recent signing did affect the New Orleans Saints plenty, though. Veteran offensive lineman Andrus Peat chose to sign with the Las Vegas Raiders. Did New Orleans attempt to bring him back?
Mickey Loomis said this morning that the Saints tried to re-sign Andrus Peat, but he ultimately chose a fresh start

Instead of returning to New Orleans, Peat chose to join the Las Vegas Raiders. His contract details with LV are not known quite yet.
Regardless, he did not choose to come back after the Saints did discuss that with him. Peat was moved through different spots on the OL while in New Orleans. Most of his reps came at guard, but you could argue he was most consistent this past season at offensive tackle. You can expect him to start at tackle for the Raiders next season.
The #Raiders newly signed Tackle Andrus Peat is a very solid scheme fit for Luke Getsy's offense. He had a ton of really good reach blocks in 2023 at LT. pic.twitter.com/lEYjtnPS7p

Since they missed out on Peat, there's more pressure on OT Trevor Penning to contend for a starting role.
Ryan Ramczyk's status is unknown, and rookie OT Taliese Fuaga may play left or right tackle by the time the season begins. Once they known more about Ramczyk, the OT depth chart will clear up a bit.
No matter what - the loss of Peat is a notable one for New Orleans. He showed improvement last season and stayed mostly healthy, starting twelve games. we can argue the reliability of Pro Bowl voting, but Peat did make the event three times during his career with the Saints.
We will see if the Saints add any more veteran depth along their offensive line. Lucas Patrick is the most recent addition on the interior.
