Browns’ Deshaun Watson breaks silence on exactly what fans want to hear
Jessica Rapfogel-USA TODAY Sports

Cleveland Browns have began their voluntary offseason training program and starting quarterback Deshaun Watson is in attendance.

Watson is working his way back from a shoulder fracture that knocked him out in Week 10 of last season. He is now recovering from the surgery and is on schedule to be the Week 1 quarterback in 2024, that much is known.

On Tuesday, an interesting development came about for Watson that is quite significant.

“Yeah, I’m throwing full speed. Everything is fluid motion. No hinging, and when I say hinging, you know, my release point when I’m throwing it and things like that, everything is fluid and motion is really good,” Watson said of where he currently stands in his rehab. “The velocity and the strength is really good. So it’s been well.”

It was known that Watson would begin throwing in the last couple of weeks but for him to be throwing full speed is a good sign.

“I feel really good. Very confident in myself in the process that’s going,” Watson explained. “My shoulder’s been really well, so just making sure that I don’t do anything extra that’s going to harm it or anything like that. So I think that’s the biggest thing. That’s exactly what Dr. ElAttrache and the guys told me is don’t try to do anything extra and rush back. So just follow the script and the plan, and you’ll be exactly where you want to be even better than before.”

The Browns have no plans to rush Watson back, that’s why there are four quarterbacks on the roster with NFL experience. But with him currently throwing full-on, one could expect him to be ready to go in training camp without much holdback. That may be just speculating but it is only April and he’s in a great spot.
