Stephon Marbury is a player that often gets forgotten when the guards of the 90s and 2000s are discussed, but Starbury was a proper baller in his time. He was selected to the All-Star team multiple times and was also a selection to the All-NBA Third Team on two occasions as well. Marbury's best seasons statistically came with the New Jersey Nets, but his most high-profile move was to the New York Knicks

He also became one of the first high-profile NBA players to move to China to play basketball and had a 7-year career during his time in the country. He is currently employed as the Coach of the Beijing Royal Fighters. But Marbury's also involved with an upcoming documentary on Showtime called NYC Point Gods. He had one of the coldest quotes in recent times as a part of its promotion as well.

"A New York City point guard would give up his girl and his chain before he gives up his dribble."

New York has provided some iconic players and guards to the NBA. Marbury was raised in Brooklyn and happens to be one of them. Others like Kenny Anderson and God Shammgod are also a part of the documentary, which explores the swag, style, and bravado that comes from growing up playing in the streets of New York.

Marbury played 3 seasons with the Nets and 6 with the Knicks, which makes him NYC through and through, considering he also grew up there. A lot of the players in the documentary showed off their elite skills in the NBA. They may not have been the best, but they were definitely amongst the most skilled. And Marbury appreciated skill from other players when he saw it too

Ultimately, it's the quote that stands out in this. The NBA has become quite sanitized in certain ways, players don't run their mouths as much as they used to. A little bit of the swagger has gone from the game, and the hope is that it will return soon. There's no denying that having someone with Marbury's moxie in the league would be extremely entertaining.
