Al Horford Comments on Season-Best Performance vs. Philadelphia 76ers
Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

On Wednesday, Al Horford proved to be a key player in the Boston Celtics’ 117-107 victory against the Philadelphia 76ers. The Celtics center registered 14 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and five blocks.

Boston’s lineup was without Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis, who is nursing a bruised knee. Per Inside The Celtics, Horford took the opportunity to demonstrate his competitiveness.

"I think more than anything, it's just showing how competitive I am. We were down tonight a couple guys, so having to step up and create a spark was important for me to do."

Horford was pleased with the Celtics’ victory, though he noted that Philadelphia had played the prior day.

"It was good for us to come out and be resilient and find a way to win this game. Obviously, they were on a back-to-back and you have to take that into account.”

Horford praised teammates Derrick White and Jrue Holiday for their defensive efforts.

"I felt like we were really aware of that and we understood what we needed to do. We were really solid on everything Joe was asking from us....Defensively, when you have Jrue and D. White out there, it makes things easier."

The Celtics’ next game is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 17, against the Toronto Raptors at Scotiabank Arena; tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. EST.
