Justin Bieber robs a bank in epic new 'Hold On' video

Here's some free advice: take a deep breath before hitting play on Justin Bieber's latest video.

"Hold On," the fourth single off Bieber's sixth studio album Justice due out March 19, dropped at 12:01am Friday along with the accompanying music video directed by Colin Tilley:

In it, the 27-year-old artist is driven to desperation as his lover (played by Dave's Christine Ko) gets sicker and sicker. They need money. Bieber tries a garage sale, but the mounting medical bills keep coming. So, he spray-paints a toy gun and stages a robbery at the local bank.

The cinematic video aligns with Bieber's recent collaborations with Tilley, who also directed the visuals for "Holy" and "Anyone." The former, which signaled this new era for Bieber in September, similarly found him as a working-class man trying to make ends meet for himself and his girlfriend (Ryan Destiny). "Anyone" starred Zoey Deutch opposite Bieber as he boxed his way to the top.

These three, plus the evocative and vulnerable "Lonely," already make Justice a heavy-hitting pop album. Bieber made it clear when announcing the project last Friday that he has high hopes for its ability to "continue the conversation of what justice looks like so we can continue to heal":

Justice serves as a return to pop for Bieber after his 2020 R&B-leaning album Changes, which scored three nominations at the upcoming 63rd annual Grammy Awards on March 14.
