Adele advises John Mayer on marriage: 'I miss being married'

John Mayer hasn't been in a relationship, at least not publicly, since he and Katy Perry split in 2015.

But that didn't stop the seven-time Grammy winner from asking Adele a simple question during their conversation for SiriusXM's Hits 1: "Should I get married?"

"Oh, yes, you should get married," Adele responded. "Yes. I think it is a really incredible thing, marriage. And I know that some people probably think that I wouldn't think that, you know, and like I gave up on it."

The 15-time Grammy winner filed for divorce from Simon Konecki, with whom she shares nine-year-old son Angelo, in late 2019. It was finalized in March. Adele's forthcoming fourth studio album 30, due Friday (Nov. 19), was written during that painful and anxiety-inducing transition in her life. But when asked by Oprah Winfrey during CBS' primetime special Adele One Night Only on Sunday (Nov. 14) if 30 is a divorce album, the 33-year-old clarified that it's more about her divorcing herself.

"But yes, I think you should," Adele continued with Mayer, 44. "I can't really say why. But I'm definitely open to marriage again. I definitely am. The feeling I had in being married was the safest feeling I've ever had in my life. Sadly, it didn't work out. But I miss being married."

Adele has been dating A-list sports agent Rich Paul since the beginning of this year.

Also earlier this year, Mayer revealed that the only thing left on his bucket list is "a wife and kids":
